Amy Jones’ Tribute to Baby Asher

South African singer-songwriter Amy Jones penned a heartfelt tribute to her son Asher on his first birthday.

A heartfelt message on Instagram

In an emotional Instagram post, the proud mom shared a video of herself, baby Asher, and her husband, Lee Wilcock. She wrote:

“Just like that… Asher Barry, you are ONE 🥹 Wow. Thank you for coming into our lives and making everything so much sweeter. We love you, my son. We pray God’s hand over your life, and that you will grow boldly into everything He has planned for you. 🥰 Thank you for your constant smile and for showing us what true, unspeakable joy looks like. We love you, our boy @asher_barry05, today and every day. 🎂”

Family milestones

The couple married in November 2023 and welcomed baby Asher on 5 December 2024. Amy has also embraced becoming a stepmother to Lee’s children, Cyan and Joel.

From Idols SA to motherhood

Jones first rose to fame as a finalist on Idols SA season 9 in 2013 and has since built a reputation for her soulful, heartfelt music.

Speaking to Babys and Beyond, Amy described Asher’s vibrant personality:

“Asher is a joyful, curious, and gentle little boy who has filled our home with so much light from the moment he arrived. He’s known for his big smile, expressive eyes, and the sweetest little personality. Over the past year, he’s grown into a happy, playful baby who loves exploring, learning, and connecting with the people around him. He recently started saying ‘mama,’ ‘tiger,’ and ‘dada,’ and he brings so much laughter to our family. He is obsessed with a ball.”

Asher means happy and blessed in abundance and he truly lives out his name.
