Bonnie Bio, a South African brand known for its compostable products, is expanding its commitment to cleaner living through the Kindness range. This collection includes natural, plant-based stain removers, insect repellents, and the K Beauty line, all created as safer alternatives to synthetic, chemical-heavy products.

The company’s mission is twofold. It aims to reduce plastic pollution while offering toxin-free household solutions that support healthier families and a healthier environment.

Summer Brings Mosquitoes and Flies – Choose the Safer Option

With warmer weather returning, mosquito and fly season is on the rise. Many traditional repellents contain harsh chemicals such as DEET and pyrethrum. Kindness offers natural replacements that protect families without exposing them to unnecessary toxins.

Bonnie Bio owner Frank McDouall notes growing concern about rising cancer and autoimmune conditions. He urges consumers to be more aware of what they put on their skin and what they inhale.

“Many insect repellents contain toxins such as pyrethrum and DEET. We created a natural, toxin-free insect repellent range under the Kindness Co. brand,” he says.

Why Natural Alternatives Matter

McDouall explains that although pyrethrum is derived from chrysanthemum flowers, it remains a potent toxin. Recent findings suggest it is not as safe as once believed. Kindness replaces these ingredients with blends of essential oils that repel insects without harming people, pets or the environment.

The range includes:

Fly Away Repellent Burner Kit
Fly Repellent Spray
Mozzie Repellent Spray

Fly Away Repellent Burner Kit

This set includes a durable borosilicate glass burner, a cotton-wick tealight and Kindness zero-toxin repellent. It is water-based, hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin and indoor use. It repels flies and bees without filling the air with chemicals or irritants.

Natural Fly Repellent Spray

This spray contains no harmful toxins or poisons and is safe on all surfaces. Use it on countertops, window frames and outdoor dining areas for up to three hours of protection. It is also safe on skin, fabric and animals, and repels bees and ants without harming them.

Natural Mozzie Repellent Spray

Made from essential oils, this mosquito repellent is gentle, hypoallergenic and suitable for toddlers and sensitive skin. It is safe on clothes, pyjamas, bed linen and exposed skin. It provides up to eight hours of protection and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

A Cleaner, Kinder Lifestyle

McDouall encourages households to rethink their daily habits. “For our own health and longevity, we should clean up our lifestyle. It’s not only about what we eat. We should also consider the cumulative effect of what we apply to our skin and what we inhale.”

Kindness offers practical solutions for families looking to reduce chemical exposure while keeping their homes safe, fresh and insect-free this summer.
