Parents-to-be, new mums, and sleep-deprived dads, rejoice! The much-loved Babies R Us Real Mama Club events are back, and this time, they’re bigger, better, and happening across the country. That’s right, 12 jam-packed events are set to roll out from April to November, bringing expert advice, real talk, and a whole lot of baby love to a city near you.
A must-attend event for new and expecting parents
Now in its fourth year, the Real Mama Club is the ultimate survival guide for the first year of parenthood. Whether you’re expecting your first little bundle of joy or adding to your ever-growing brood, these events are designed to help you navigate the magical (and mildly chaotic) journey of early parenthood.
And no, this isn’t just another antenatal class where they teach you how to swaddle a baby in 30 seconds. This is the real deal. Honest conversations, expert insights, and the kind of advice you actually need when your newborn refuses to sleep at 3am.
What to expect
Taking place in Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Gauteng, the Real Mama Club events are all about connection, learning, and (let’s be honest) a much-needed break. You’ll get access to top childcare professionals, interactive sessions on key parenting topics, and a community of fellow parents who just get it.
Here’s a sneak peek at what’s on the agenda:
- Boundaries and babies: Midwife Sister Des Meyer gets real about setting limits early on.
- Car seat safety: Because strapping your baby in correctly is a life-or-death skill (thanks, Joie South Africa!).
- Baby milestones: Midwife Sister Des Meyer breaks down what to expect and when.
- Introducing solids: Dietitian Kath Megaw guides you through the messy, but exciting, world of baby food.
- Securing your child’s financial future: Old Mutual shares smart money moves for your little one.
- Postnatal depression: Clinical psychologist Kiara Sunder tackles the tough, but important, topic of mental health after birth.
- Sex after birth: Pelvic health physiotherapist Chantelle Wills gets candid about getting back in the game (whenever you’re ready, of course!).
A day out you actually want to attend
“Parenting is an incredible journey filled with both joy and challenges,” says Catherine Jacoby, Marketing Manager at Babies R Us. “These events give parents a space to learn, connect, and feel supported—because it really does take a village!”
Dads, you’re welcome too! In fact, many fathers have attended in previous years and left with actual useful knowledge (and maybe a newfound respect for the magical powers of mums). Plus, for those bringing babies under six months, expert Super Nannies will be on hand to help out, so you can soak up all the wisdom without juggling a crying newborn.
