South Africa, it’s finally your turn. The global Labubu obsession has arrived on local shores, and if you’ve missed the hype, prepare to get hooked.

What Exactly Is a Labubu?

Labubu dolls are quirky plush collectibles designed by artist Kasing Lung and made famous by Pop Mart. Far from ordinary toys, these mischievous little creatures — often dressed in designer outfits and packaged in blind boxes — have become a cultural phenomenon, sparking bidding wars across platforms like eBay and StockX.

In fact, rare editions have sold for more than USD 10,000 (over R180,000).

“They’re more than just toys; they’re cultural collectibles,” explains Gareth Brough, Co-Founder of The Clout Group. “Scarcity and community fuel the craze. Celebrities and influencers have only amplified the demand.”

What’s Available in SA

Thanks to The Clout Group, collectors no longer have to wrestle with sky-high shipping fees or international resellers. A limited number of 100% original Labubu dolls are now available locally — but stock is scarce.

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • 8 regular Labubu dolls
  • Designer fits: 4 Louis Vuitton, 1 Prada, and 5 Lakers
  • 14 seated Labubu dolls
  • 16 mini versions (small but mighty)

The dolls are available exclusively via cloutgrp.com with nationwide delivery.

Why Collectors Are Obsessed

With their cheeky grins, playful designs, and exclusivity, Labubus tap into the psychology of modern collecting: a blend of scarcity, cultural status, and nostalgia.

“This launch is about more than hype,” says Brough. “It’s about giving South Africans access to the real thing — not fakes, not dupes — and connecting them to a global movement.”
