For 240 children from impoverished communities, this dream is about to come true, and Breadline Africa is calling on individuals and corporates to help make it a reality!
Since 1999, Breadline Africa has provided more than infrastructure; it has given children access to experiences that inspire and foster their development. The seaside outing is one of our longest-standing initiatives, offering children from under-resourced early childhood development (ECD) centres a rare day of carefree fun by the ocean – something many have never experienced before. They face harsh realities, including unsafe play areas, trauma and limited participation in creative activities. This November, we’re inviting everyone to dive in and help sponsor a day filled with fun, laughter and unforgettable memories.
“For most of these children, it’s more than just a day at the beach – it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” says Selina Kleinsmith, Donor Care Manager at Breadline Africa. “We’re excited to share the magic of the seaside with them, but we can’t do it without your support.”
Elijah, one of the children who attended last year’s seaside outing, shared his excitement: “Playing with my friends in the water, making sandcastles and eating donuts were the best parts of the day!”
Over four action-packed days, groups of children will be taken to the scenic St James Beach in Cape Town, where they’ll enjoy games, build sandcastles, explore the tidal pools and indulge in a delicious lunch. Thanks to the Shark Spotters, a local NPO, the children will learn about the wonders of the ocean and water safety too. And to top it off, each child will go home with a special gift, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
