It’s National Fertility Awareness Week … culminating with Fertility Show Africa 2022

by Media Xpose

The annual National Fertility Awareness Week (NFAW) takes place from July 18 – 24 and, fittingly, encompasses Fertility Show Africa 2022, which is happening at the Focus Rooms in Modderfontein, Sandton, Johannesburg on July 23 and 24. Now in it’s third outing as the only event of its kind on the African continent, FSA is a must for anyone trying to conceive or on a journey to parenthood, and is free for all attendees – both online and at the live, in-person event.

Says Saskia Williams, founder member and CEO of the Infertility Awareness Association of South Africa (IFAASA): “National Fertility Awareness Week’s mission is to break the silence around the fertility issues that more than 15% of South Africans face when it comes to building their families. Different topics will be touched on every day and the week culminates in Fertility Show Africa, Africa’s biggest event dedicated to fertility.”

Some of the topics to be included in NFAW include encouraging discussions around fertility matters from a young age; questioning why so many medical aids don’t cover this recognised disease; how the subject should be covered in the high school curriculum; fertility policies in the work place and where to begin when struggling to conceive.

Says Live Events CEO and FSA organiser Heidi Warricker: “All the points raised in the National Fertility Awareness Week, will be covered in the various talks that we have lined up for the event so it’s the perfect climax to the week’s activities.

Because many of those suffering from infertility prefer some level of privacy and confidentiality, we will also have an online event running in tandem with the physical show, which will also allow visitors from other parts of the country and the rest of the world to take part.”

FSA is aimed at those actively seeking answers, solutions and treatments for infertility and attendees will have the opportunity to consult with a wide range of clinicians, experts including doctors, embryologists, psychologists, nurses practitioners, fertility clinics, legal advisors, support groups, surrogacy specialists and adoption and donor agencies, as well as natural fertility solutions, complementary and alternative therapies and nutritional and lifestyle advisors.
