PNA, Breadline Africa and Sock Doctor would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to every individual, school, family, and business that joined hands (and donned funky socks) to support the 2024 Funky Socks Day campaign. Thanks to you, this year’s campaign was more vibrant, impactful, and inspiring than ever before!
A nation united for early childhood development
South Africa has proven, yet again, the power of community and compassion. The PNA Breadline Africa Funky Socks Day 2024 campaign has raised an astounding R1,464,519.33 to transform the lives of children in need – in excess of half a million rand more than last year’s total! This year’s campaign united South Africans from all walks of life to support early childhood development (ECD) centres in vulnerable communities.
Building on the success of previous years, the funds raised this year will provide 50 ECD centres across South Africa and Namibia with essential classroom materials and resources. These educational resource packs include puzzles, activity books, play dough, building blocks, stationary, books, chairs, tables and even more.
The importance of early childhood development
Investing in early childhood development is key to building a brighter future for South Africa. By equipping ECD centres with the necessary tools, teachers are enabled to continue their vital role in educating and uplifting children in vulnerable communities.
Key players in the campaign’s success
“Funky Socks Day 2024 was a huge success!” said Breadline Africa’s CEO, Marion Wagner “Thanks to every single one of you who rocked your funky socks and bought Funky Socks Day stickers at PNA, we surpassed our goal and raised almost an incredible R1.5 million – all for children in need.”
PNA, South Africa’s leading stationery and art materials retailer, played an integral role in this year’s success. Stickers and funky socks were sold at their 129 stores nationwide, driving awareness and raising funds.
“A huge thank you to all our customers,” said PNA’s Senior Executive – Product and Marketing, Herman Botha. “Every sticker purchased contributed to this milestone, bringing our community together for a powerful cause. Let’s keep making a difference. Together, we can achieve even more!” PNA also wants to acknowledge their incredible store staff, whose dedication and enthusiasm helped make this campaign such a success. Their extra effort in promoting the initiative and engaging with customers played a pivotal role in raising awareness and funds.
A special thank you to Sock Doctor for donating 23,750 pairs of grey school socks to the campaign, as well as donating 100% of their profits from two funky sock designs. Sock Doctor’s generous contributions supported the campaign’s success.
As 2024 draws to a close, PNA, Breadline Africa, and Sock Doctor celebrate the boundless generosity of South Africans. This year’s campaign has set the stage for even greater achievements in the future.
Thank you, South Africa, for stepping up, standing together and making a difference. By supporting initiatives like Funky Socks Day, you are investing in the potential of our country’s youngest learners.
